ABOUT

Inspired by a love of art, painting and interior design, The Little Framing Studio was born several years ago in a small, dark corner of the garage behind the lawnmower. Despite it’s modest beginnings, there was always one important goal in mind : to help friends, family & eventually clients protect and showcase their precious artwork.

As time went on and my experience & training grew, I discovered I not only had a love for framing others' art, but also a desire to share my own creations. I promoted myself to Picture Framer and Artist and upgraded my damp garage for the beautiful, light, new studio where my business is now based.

I’m so pleased to be able to offer a variety of framing styles to suit all projects ranging from unique hand finished frames to a wide selection of pre-finished frames.

Based in a rural setting and run from a home studio, I can provide off street parking while we spend time exploring your requirements and the many options available for your work. I have a good range of sample mouldings, mount boards and glass on display that we can go through together to help you find the best-suited materials in line with your budget and tastes.

Ideally I’d prefer to book in clients by appointment to be sure that we can take the time you need to make your decisions. It is important to me that you are completely happy and therefore you are under no obligation to order on the initial meeting.

I look forward to seeing you, Katie x

MORE ABOUT MY OIL PAINTINGS

I first picked up a paint brush in an adventurous attempt to fill the empty walls of our Somerset home with original, affordable art. Although I had been working as a picture framer previously, I had no formal art training and no idea that fine art painting was to become such a huge part of my life.

Since then, I’ve spent far too many long evenings after the children are in bed honing my painting skills across a variety of mediums and subject matters, and have settled on a preferred medium of oil paints. I love (and at times, loathe!) the slow-drying flexibility of oils that allow me to blend and build up texture with the paint as I work. The majority of my work is carried out in one sitting (‘alla prima’), which I feel encourages me to paint in a loose, energetic style. Recently I’ve enjoyed painting a lot of still life pieces with a focus on the everyday. I love to watch the objects come to life on my canvas through the use of colour and tonality.

My paintings are always colourful and painted with interior design in mind and a genuine wish to brighten up the homes of their new owners.
